Pain is a normal part of life. And it’s an unavoidable part of parenting teens!

I’m amazed that when we’re in pain, we think the suffering will last forever. Yet, most pain in our lives is temporary. Remember Second Corinthians 4:17? “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

I love this verse because it helps us remember two things: one, our pain won’t last forever, there are good things ahead! And two, there’s purpose in pain. We shouldn’t try to avoid it at all costs, because that would circumvent what God’s trying to accomplish in our lives.

Though it may be hard, remember that these are “light and momentary troubles.” A troubled teen is pointing us toward God’s glory and joy that “outweighs” it all!
