This fall, new and returning Madison East students will see some familiar faces during lunch when they are free to leave the school building for open lunch hour. MOMs – an comforting acronym for these devoted Moms on a Mission, was established in 2022 to be a presence near the school during the lunch hour. Their “mission” is to provide gentle parental oversight, snacks and a friendly and familiar presence, which helps kids feels seen, safe and encouraged. Thursday 8 O’Clock Buzz host Tony Castañeda welcomes MOMs member Shady Kilfoy-Flores to learn more about the group’s ongoing efforts to help kids stay fed, safe and loved over the lunch hour.
