Last week we got to know Uncle Mackie in his school psychologist profession. We continue to pick his brain on how to approach balance with kids in each age group, calm down corners, regulating emotions, and the things we enjoyed as parents about COVID. We know Mackie as the silly funcle that does dances & plays sports with all the kids but this week we get to know a different side. Mackie is a school psychologist who interned in a local middle school & elementary school and is now, sadly, leaving us to work in Florida. In Part 1 he helps point out differences between his profession and school counselors as well as getting into some common issues kids are facing today. Mackie shares how different coaching soccer compared to working with kids in a more serious setting is but also how connection and equal respect in both are equally important. We truly had a plan for this episode but we went off the rails and then it all tied together anyway. We really get into some sibling conflict of our own as well as how we are looking at it now when our kids argue. We talk about the importance of a chosen family incase your blood family makes you feel like you belong in a padded room.
