Monae is a celebrity hair stylist, author, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion consultant with over 20 years of experience. Her work can be seen in media ranging from Harper's BAZAAR to Yahoo! and ESSENCE to Hair's How. She has worked with celebs including Tia Mowry, Yara Shahidi, Emily Tosta and Nickelodeon starlets including Lilimar and That Girl Lay Lay.
The Texture Style Awards is a new beauty competition celebrating the beauty of hair and honor the artists who have mastered styling techniques for all hair textures.
Celebrity hairstylist, DEI Speaker, and educator Monaè Everett created the Texture Style Awards to help increase diversity and inclusion within the beauty industry by placing equal emphasis on all four hair texture categories: straight, wavy, curly, and coily.
We are proud to share that Beauty By Imagination (Ouidad, Curls, Bio Ionic, Wet Brush) has signed on as title sponsor for the 2023 competition, with The Monae Life Academy (MLA) leading the preceding educational series. The MLA focuses on providing emerging and established hairstylists the education, tools, and resources needed to style the four hair textures and working beyond the chair.
