  • Powerball jackpot climbs

The Powerball jackpot is on a roll for the holidays.  No one matched all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing so Monday's jackpot is now worth an estimated 875-million dollars.  Lottery officials say that ranks as the seventh biggest in Powerball history.  The odds of hitting the jackpot are roughly one in 292-million.


  • Names released in connection with baby found buried in Wilmington

Will County Officials have released the names of the two people arrested in connection with the body of a baby found buried in a shallow grave in Wilmington late last week. Will County Sheriff's Police report they got information Thursday about a possible buried baby on a piece of property in the 19-hundred block of Roberts Road in Wilmington . In a press release, deputies say the informant told police a 36-year-old woman had given birth to the baby and it's remains were buried on the property. Friday morning, Will County deputies took several people into custody and the property was searched. That search allegedly turned up the remains of an infant, wrapped in a plastic bag and cloth, buried about three-feed deep in what they say appeared to be an Old-Style beer box.   Will County Deputies say they arrested 36-year-old Nicole Pokrzywa of Wilmington and 38-year-old William Cosmen of Manhattan on preliminary charges of Desecration of a Corpse. Reports say other charges are pending the outcome of an autopsy on the child. 


  • Grand Marshal announced for Kankakee parade

The City of Kankakee has announced the Grand Marshal for next Saturday’s Christmas Parade. Mayor Chris Curtis shared the news with us at Monday night’s city council meeting.  City of Kankakee’s Christmas Parade starts at four thirty in the afternoon Saturday, December 13th in Downtown Kankakee.


  • Search warrant lead Rensselaer police to arrest Chicago man

Rensselaer Indiana Police report an arrest following a Friday search warrant. In a press release, Rensselaer Police say their department along with Jasper County Sheriff's Police and agents from the US Marshals Services served a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of North McKinley. That search warrant reportedly resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Devaughn who was wanted on several outstanding warrants, including charges related to an armed robbery and escape. Reports say Credit is also a suspect in an ongoing investigation by Rensselaer Police.
