What does the bible say about money?

Private property is biblical (Ex 20:15, Matthew 19:21)

Money does not satisfy (Ecc 5:10-12)

Money is a root of all kinds of evils (1 Tim 6:6-10)

Money will perish (Matt 6:19-21)

We cannot serve both God and money (Matt 6:24)

• Why do we try to serve both God and money?
  We are anxious about tomorrow (Matt 6:25)
  God created everything (Gen 1:1)
  God owns everything (Ps 50:12)
  Our most important need is faith in the God who provides money (Matt 10:28)
  God will provide (Heb 13:5)

Being rich is not wrong (1 Tim 6:17-19, Matt 27:57, Gen 12:4-5, Gen 13:2, Prv 3:9-10, Prv 30:7-9)

Wisdom, understanding, honor, knowledge, righteousness are all better than money (Prv 3:13-15, 8:10-11, 16:8, 22:1)

What do we do with the money provided us?

We labor to get and give (Eph 4:28, 1 Tim 5:18)

How not to get money (Prv 1:17-19, Prv 10:2-5, Prv 13:11, Prv 21:6)

Provide for your self (2 Thes 3:10-12)

Provide for your family (1 Tim 5:8, 16)

Provide for your church (1 Tim 5:17-18)

Provide for your state / civil government (Matt 12:17, Rom 13:5-17)

How is God's church funded and to what ends?

Through his people (Gen 14:18-23)

We give to support our pastors (1 Tim 5:17-18, Gal 6:6-10, Titus 3:13, 3 John 6-8)

We give to help others (Acts 2:45, 2 Cor 9:12)

How do we give?

Freely (Galatians 5:16, Rom 8:2-4)

Cheerfully (2 Cor 9:6-7)

Thankfully (2 Cor 9:11-12)

Faithfully (Luke 21:1-4)

With our talents (Exodus 35:30-36:7)

With our time (Matt 28:18-20, Acts 1:21-22)
