Matchmaking is an art.
It's hard to get it right, and easy to get it wrong.
We focus on how to be successful at it, from a promoter's perspective. Usually that requires delegating those duties.
But more importantly, what should be your focus during negotiations?

Boxing and MMA promoters are often accused of playing favorites...
The truth?
They do! And that is ok.
The sports itself doesn't grow to where it is without letting attention and excitement dictate the terms. If you can draw more attention to the show, or the sport, you should be given extra benefits.
Talent will win out eventually in each weight class, but the reason some get preferential treatment isn't hard to figure out. It's all about the dollars.
This is a business first and foremost, so think more with your head than your heart when you put on a card.

What should be the primary objective of a boxing/mma manager?
Obviously the well-being and earning power of their fighters first and foremost.
But what about your goals for early in a fighters career? What's realistic?
We've seen many promising young fighters get derailed due to inactivity, over-matchmaking, or just not staying in shape for the full-time. Let's discuss what separates a world champion from a journeyman, beyond just talent.
