Big League Advance is like a venture capital fund, but instead of investing in emerging businesses, they invest in minor league baseball players. They do so by buying a percentage of the players future earning capacity.

When I first heard Michael describe his story and his business I was that excited to find out more. It's certainly not an investment strategy for everyone as it's high risk/high reward, but it's a really interesting concept.

Big League Advance continues to receive recognition around the world, and be approached from other sports wanting to improve in their analytics and data analysis. Nick Hungerford is the founder of Nutmeg, the largest robo-adviser in Europe. He is also a digital ambassador for the UK Department of International Trade, a member of the European Power 50 and recipient of Spears Entrepreneur of the year award. In this episode, we discuss the challenges of being an entrepreneur and raising money and growing a Fintech business. In a relatively short period of time Nutmeg has opened up professional investment management to segments of people in the UK that have never had access to it before.
Nick has since stepped away from Nutmeg and is now involved in a venture capital fund in Singapore called Portage.
