Kareem Idris has been an educator for over 18 years. He has been an English professor in Makkah, K.S.A, and in Cairo., Egypt. He has worked in the Mental Health field for the past 12 years with diverse populations such as children, teens, young adults and the elderly. Fluent in Arabic, Kareem had the opportunity to assist in curriculum building and establishing IEPs for secondary schools in Egypt. Each population he has worked with has had diagnosis ranging from Autism Spectrum disorder, Bipolar disorder, ODD, and ADHD. Currently Kareem is a Case Manager for the Focus on Fathers Program through the Health Promotion Council (HPC) at the Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), where he facilitates a course on Parenting for Men, teaching healthy parenting skills and methodology, as well as connecting Fathers to resources such as employment, housing, and educational opportunities. Kareem is also a facilitator for the REMix (Relationship Education with children in the MIX) healthy relationships course through HPC of PHMC. As an artist, Idris has been a poet for the John Coltrane Society of Philadelphia and a current musician for the Philadelphia Jazz Project. An initiated priest in the Yoruba/Lukumi tradition, Kareem utilizes his experience and expertise to create a bridge musically and a platform of awareness and healing through words to positively impact the listener and utilize music as a therapeutic tool.
