Montreal Tattoo Legend: Nat Jean
This is a long overdue conversation I've been wanting to have with Montreal tattoo legend Nat Jean from Coup D'etat Tatouage.
It's hard to explain to most tattooers how hard it was to get into to tattooing in the 90's, let alone being a woman. Nat shares her well earned path into the craft via the punk rock scene, tattoo trips to Philly, New York, and working her way up inside great studios in MTL.
Described by many as a tattooers tattooer, Nat makes strong tattoos with vibrant colours reflecting the east coast/Montreal tattoo and cultural scene. She recently opened her own studio, Coup D'etat, during the pandemic, proving that nothing is impossible if you are driven and dedicated.
Shawn has a special connection to the city and it shows in the funny recollections him and Nat share about the early days of the new era in tattooing.
