Here we present Baylas with a live recording of their session from this years Perpendicular event.

Bassywax and Ilayruni merge their visions into one, giving birth to Baylas, a live playground for rhythm and low-end explorations across experimental dance music.

Baylas is an open improvisation that swings in between minimalism, subtlety and spatial cinematics, bridging experimental perception to dancefloor grooves.

The duo aims to transform cold experimental aesthetics into a naughty playful dancefloor scenario that invites the body in. For this transition, the vocabulary is shaped by percussion curiosity, sub bass narratives and atmosphere beds that hold them in union.

As a whole, Baylas invites the audience into a fun and curious journey to their interpretation of future dancefloors.

Our podcast number 541 comes from Berlin-based Costanza, a promising new name from the Roman school of DJs. Like many of her hometown peers, she’s a vinyl lover with a soft spot for texture and ambient atmospheres. The mix is a love letter to drums in all their forms, with a taste for both the warmth and the darker shades of techno. A bit like looking into an abyss with the sun on your face.

In her own words about the mix:

" I painted this mix in the colors of a far away landscape.

A Fata Morgana - lingering at the edge of perception, almost real but never fully within reach. Something that draws you in with desire while constantly moving further away…

I’m fascinated by the tension between softness and unease, attraction and distance, the feeling of recognising something you’ve never actually seen."

Planatia is a Berlin based selector and sound artist originally from Rome, dedicated to crafting immersive sonic landscapes where technology and nature converge.

He stands among the founding members of the Radiocircolo collective, an open space for encounter, experimentation, and transmission. He is also part of the electroacoustic duo Nuvola, through which he explores the liminal zones of ambient and experimental music.

Resident on Cashmere Radio and Radio Alhara, his sound resonates as much on the airwaves as it does on the stages of festivals such as Waking Life and Parallel.

Through his sonic navigations he travels the in-between spaces of electronic and organic worlds, weaving liquid soundscapes for inter-dimensional listening.

It’s Sunday, and we’re slowly approaching the last night of Monument 2026. Before the closing set, one of the more distinctive voices coming out of Japan’s underground techno scene enters Varden.

OCCA has spent more than twenty years building his sound and community in Sapporo and Tokyo. That sound is now travelling all over the world, and this night it will journey through the forest in Veggli.

«I didn’t plan my set in advance. Instead, I put a large selection of tracks I had in mind into a playlist. Once I arrived at the festival, I gradually shaped the set; enjoying the music, connecting with people, and taking in the nature and weather around me.

I wanted to bring an energy that would feel powerful and danceable under the sunlight, while also incorporating something that would make people reflect on the time they had spent at the festival – as we moved towards the closing.

I was unsure whether to play a track from a live recording featuring Suzanne Ciani performing with the Metropole Orkest, conducted by Simon Dobson. But when I saw how much the audience was yearning for the music, I felt confident enough to play it. I also can’t forget the scene when the low end of Pearson Sound’s “XLB (Allen Mock x Herbalistek Remix)” ran through the crowd like a tidal wave.

When I left the booth, I was filled with joy and gratitude. Passing the baton from Feral, a longtime friend and an artist I deeply respect, to Efdemin, whom I have been a huge fan of since I first started DJing. I had dreamed of playing at Monument for a long time, so finally being able to stand there and play was a very special moment for me.»
