It might not have been the swashbuckling, counter-attacking goalfest that we saw on the season’s opening day, but Gillingham’s scrappy 1-0 away win at Morecambe is worth exactly the same number of league points, and it might just have shown that, even when hampered by a host of injuries to first-teamers, Gillingham still have the wherewithal to grind out a win on the road.

A late goal from substitute George Lapslie proved to be the difference-maker as Gillingham took all three points onto the team bus home for the six-hour (or more!) journey back to Kent
