This episode serves as a bit of an epilogue to last book, about how the Nephites fared after Christ came—so, essentially, they continued to get worse. Oh, and little 10 year old Mormon was assigned to carry on the records. Then he was visited by the LORD HIMSELF when he was 15. So that's cool.
