But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him: — 1 John 2:5

John ties keeping Christ's word to the love of God being perfected in us. But he's not talking about earning God's love through obedience — he's describing what a life looks like when God's love has taken hold. If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him. The God of peace, who brought again our Lord Jesus from the dead, equip you with everything good to do His will, working in you what is pleasing in His sight. Love perfected isn't flawless performance; it's consistent abiding.
