Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, — Hebrews 2:14

Through death, Jesus destroyed the one who held the power of death—the devil. He didn't destroy death by avoiding it but by walking through it and out the other side. Death is swallowed up in victory; where is your sting? You don't fear the shadow of death when the Shepherd walks through it with you.
