Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 81

Listen Later

Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!” So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees. Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times, Elijah told him to go and look. Finally, the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea….” 1 Kings 18:41-44

What does it look like to trust God when the sky refuses to cooperate? In this episode, we dig into Elijah’s persistence in 1 Kings 18:41–44 and the suspense between God’s promise and what we see in real time. If you’ve ever wondered whether the small signs in your life are enough, this conversation is for you. Sometimes the miracle starts tiny (a cloud the size of a man’s hand, perhaps), but when God breathes on it, that small beginning becomes a downpour. Settle in, exhale, and let’s talk about what it means to prepare before the rain arrives.
