Paul ran his whole Christian life looking forward, not back — he'd done too much he regretted and too much he could've rested on, so he kept his eyes fixed on Jesus and the prize ahead. The strength to keep going doesn't come from willpower; it comes from knowing God finishes what he starts, that Christ is interceding for you, and that he's strong enough to hold everything you've entrusted to him. Strip off whatever slows you down, fix your eyes on Jesus — he ran this race first and made it to the other side.
