Paul doesn't command you to seek heavenly things to earn God's favor—he commands it because you've already been raised with Christ. The indicative comes first: you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. The wisdom from above is pure and peaceable, and it's found by fixing your eyes on Jesus.
