everything that can withstand the fire—must be put through the fire, and it will be clean. But it must still be purified with the water of purification. And everything that cannot withstand the fire must pass through the water. — Numbers 31:23

Everything that could withstand fire had to pass through fire to be purified. The Lord tests His people like silver tried in the furnace. He doesn't refine you because He's angry; He refines you because He loves you and wants you pure. The fire may be painful, but you won't be consumed — when you walk through the fire, He is with you.
