Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. — 1 John 4:7

The ground of our love is not human affection—it is divine origin. God's love was poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit cries Abba, Father in us. We love because He first loved us. In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. The cross is both the measure and the engine of our love for others.
