Christian Prayer:
Morning Prayer for the Feast of Chair of Peter, Apostle
God, come to my assistance.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
HYMN
Christ Jesus, Lord, true Light of Light
You gave them special gifts and grace,
Appeased by your apostles' prayer,
By their great merits keep us safe
With face serene look down on us,
All glory be to you, O Lord,

to deal out vengeance to the nations

READING Acts 15:7b-9
God selected me to be the one from whose lips the Gentiles would hear the message of the gospel and believe. God, who reads the hearts of men, showed his approval by granting the Holy Spirit to them just as he did to us. He made no distinction between them and us, but purified their hearts by means of faith also.
Sacred Silence(indicated by a bell) – a moment to reflect and receive in our hearts the full resonance of the voice of the Holy Spirit and to unite our personal prayer more closely with the word of God and public voice of the Church.
RESPONSORY
You have made them rulers over all the earth.
They will always remember your name, O Lord,
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
CANTICLE OF ZECHARIAH
Ant. The Lord said to Simon Peter: I have prayed for you, Peter, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned to me, you must strengthen the faith of your brothers.
Luke 1:68 – 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
Through his holy prophets he promised of old
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High;
In the tender compassion of our God
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
Ant. The Lord said to Simon Peter: I have prayed for you, Peter, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned to me, you must strengthen the faith of your brothers.
