We spent our New Years in the Ourika Valley at the base of the Atlas Mountains.
In this video you can join us as we ate a traditional Tajin meal and rang in the new year to traditional drumming.
We have brought the kids to a World Schooling Hub for the next 6 weeks. They will have classes everyday on a mix of subjects. And a cool thing is every week we will all go on a field trip.
Ill do a more indepth post on World Schooling soon. As im not sure how familiar many people are as to what it even is.
After the New Years Celebration, we went on a hike to a waterfall. A nice way to spend the frist day of the year. All the kids from the World School scampered along a river and climbed anything that seemed dangerous. 🫣 Until a mom yelled to get down. 😜
The day after the hike we had our first field trip planned. To Oukaimeden. The kinda ski resort village. But not the kind of ski resort you generally think of.
So we headed up into the Atlas Mountains to sled or ski or both. Mom, is not really a cold weather person. She had a bit of a melt down. She really doesnt like being cold and doesnt understand why anyone would want to go to cold places.
Lol, skiing and sledding is definately a reason. And so we went.
i didnt have the most appropriate foot wear, and in general we really didnt have the right cloths. I will admit it was very cold....but we survived and had a really amazing sunset over the Atlas Mountains.
It was a great first few days of 2025!
