Did you know that Morse Code was used for almost 100 years as the fastest way to communicate over long distances? It took a trained ear to understand the dots and dashes of the code. The operator had to be a good listener. 
Today,  studies have shown that people, in general, have become very poor listeners. Today we talk about how that affects many areas of our lives.
