The Holy Spirit has come, and the gospel is exploding. Peter stands in front of a crowd preaching the truth that Jesus is the Son of God and people are repenting. Now that the group of Christians are growing, they are coming together out of both necessity and for community. As the early church gathers, what can we learn from them? Do we hold the same focus in our time, or have we drifted from the purpose of believers gathering?

We are on the other side of the good news of Easter. We know what happened, and we rest in that Hope - but now what? Jesus came to earth, conquered death…so that you could have life, a full life. We have received the gift of His love and mercy, but everyone knows a good gift is one that can be shared. In Acts we see the beginning of Christ’s church being formed. His call to make disciples who make disciples coming to life…as the Holy Spirit empowered, and transformed lives to live on mission. If we believe the story, let our lives reflect that Truth. Now is the time to take the “what” and place it before who Jesus came to live and die for.

Would you believe? Whether you would have believed then, we get to answer whether we believe today - and the better question is what do we do with that belief?

All seemed lost. Their teacher and friend is dead. Doubt is flowing along with fear. Then reports came in – he isn’t in the tomb. He is alive! But if you were there, would you believe it? What would it take for you to believe that Jesus was actually alive?

Jesus takes the common topic of anger and flips it around. Anger isn’t just the yelling, hitting, or bad behavior. Instead, anger is something that is brooding in the heart and comes out through our actions. The Savior teaches that anger is so much deeper than we realize.

Jesus said it best…it’s easy to love those who love you. So incredibly true, and so is it’s counter – loving disagreeable people is just plain hard. We all have them in our lives. Difficult neighbors, bosses, and coworkers. People who do terrible things to make others miserable. But Jesus teaches us that the love that God offers us is not conditional. It is not based on our actions or if we are doing a good job of loving Him back. Instead, it is constant and unrelenting. His love does not have conditions or a sliding scale. His love is perfect and radical.
