Grandma packed their sandwiches and snacks like it was a family tradition—and for the first half of the day, it was.

But when an unbearable stench rolls into the deer blind and the forest goes dead quiet, everything changes. Footsteps move behind the blind. Grandpa’s face turns to fear. Rocks begin slamming into the wood, growls circle them, and then the impossible happens: the entire blind is lifted and swung through the air, landing 10–12 feet away like it weighs nothing. Grandpa whispers that he’s known the “booger” has been around these parts for years—but he never thought it would show itself like this… in daylight… with a child present. What follows is a desperate sprint to the road while dodging logs and rocks being thrown with violent accuracy. The truck is still hundreds of feet away. Grandpa is running out of breath. Then a whistle cuts through the air—and the creature steps onto the road behind them.

With the keys in the boy’s hand and the order to lock himself inside no matter what he sees, the grandson faces a moment that still haunts him decades later… especially when he spots another one crossing behind the truck.
