Julia Ward Howe, the Unitarian abolitionist who wrote the Battle Hymn of the Republic, wanted to establish a Mother's Peace Day. In her 1870 proclamation, she wrote: "Arise, all women who have hearts." This Mother's Day we take our cue from Howe and explore what it means to practice creative resistance.
