Moms, by God’s grace, can win the hearts of their sons and raise them to be strong in the Lord. This was true of Timothy, whose mother Eunice and grandmother Lois carefully guided him in the Scriptures from an early age (2 Tim. 1:3-5; 3:14-15). If you’re a mom with a son, recognize that you’re raising a future leader—a boy who will one day become a man who exercises authority as a family shepherd, husband, provider, defender, churchman, and warrior. Show your son quiet, firm boundaries as a velvet-covered brick. Encourage him to be masculine, while governing his emotions. Prepare your heart to be his friend, even as you call him to godly manhood.
