Cheap insoles, resting completely, and stretching alone will not fix plantar fasciitis. They just calm it down for a while. Then you take those first few steps out of bed and the pain is right back.

In this video, I'm going to break down the three mistakes almost everyone makes with plantar fasciitis, explain why each one feels like it's working even when it isn't, and show you what actually needs to happen to get rid of heel pain for good.

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Why do cheap insoles not fix plantar fasciitis?
Cheap foam insoles flatten under light thumb pressure, so they cannot support your arch under one and a half times your body weight with every step. Without rigid structure under the cushion, the insert is not actually holding anything up.

Should I stop running or exercising if I have plantar fasciitis?
No, stopping activity only removes the load temporarily and does not fix why the fascia was overstressed in the first place. The pain almost always returns once you resume activity, and many people never go back to the activity they love.

Is stretching enough to cure plantar fasciitis?
Stretching keeps tissue from getting tight, but it does not heal tissue that is already inflamed and overstressed where it attaches to the heel. Lasting relief requires relieving pain, restoring motion, and regenerating healthy tissue, not stretching alone.

  • Are Cushioned Shoes Damaging Your Feet? Hoka, OnCloud, and Others Explained

πŸ“Œ Book your free consultation here: https://idahofeet.com/

Ultra cushion shoes feel incredible the second you put them on. That is exactly the problem. Standing on a pillow of foam for eight hours makes your foot stop stabilizing itself and lets the shoe do the work instead, and that dependence is what causes trouble down the road.

In this video, I'm going to break down what ultra cushion shoes do to your foot over time, explain heel drop and why less shoe is usually better, and walk you through the brands I recommend, the one I avoid, and the two quick checks you can do on any shoe before buying it.

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
What is heel drop in a shoe?
Heel drop is the difference in thickness between the heel and the ball of the foot in a shoe. A typical athletic shoe runs about eleven millimeters, while a Dansko can be closer to thirty, and lower drop generally means more natural foot function.

Are Hoka or On Cloud shoes bad for your feet?
They are not inherently bad, but wearing heavy cushion shoes full time can weaken your foot's natural stabilizing muscles over time. Checking the heel counter and where the shoe bends matters more than the brand name itself.

How do I know if my shoes are hurting my feet?
Squeeze the heel counter at the back of the shoe and see if it collapses, then bend the shoe to see where it folds. If the heel caves in or the shoe folds through the arch instead of at the ball of the foot, it is likely contributing to your foot pain.
