Lois Fernandez-Powers is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her parents,Louis and Mabel Grattic raised her and her 4 siblings in Philly. Ms. Powers credits her mother, Mabel and grandmother, Rosa Thomas for instilling her religious values. She graduated from Frankford High School. She went on to receive her cosmetology license from Apex Beauty Culture School. After which she attended Moore College of Art, Philadelphia Art School and took courses at Temple and Pierce University to enhance her artistic portfolio. She worked forthe federal government for 30 years before retiring. All while she raised her two children. She is now the proud mother of two, grandmother of three andgreat grandmother of three.Lois, also known as “Beaded Moccasin” is known for designing fashion, interior decorating, and creating a variety of crafts. Always evolving, Lois never tires of trying new things. Several years ago she began writing poetry to express her feelings on people in the news, celebrities and current events around the country and the world. Her poetry collection has grown to over ten books.
