Songwriting: In this episode Joe examines the techniques of Motivic Development into musical phrases and Sections. By combining these motivic phrases, sections are created, which in turn may be used as introduction, verse, pre-chorus, chorus bridge and interludes.

Hi everyone, this next work in the series  for guitar and various instruments features a dialogue between 2 Guitars.  In this composition I feature what I believe is the most important compositional technique in all genres of music -  "Repetition and repetition with variation". In addition the use of petal tones and drones , notes sustained or repeated under the middle or above the music. The third technique highlighted is the Ostinato - A phrase motive riff repeated over and over creating an hypnotic force  a foundation on which all else is built - think of Stravinsky, Schoenberg, every heavy metal song -  actually all styles of music.
