She talks about her childhood in the mountains among the Sherpa ethnic group of Nepal, whose first name corresponds to the day of the week they were born on and who all share the same last name. She also shares her belief in a spiritual connection with Everest, which she describes as a female deity that acts as her North Star. She recalls how sexism prevented her from having the possibilities she wanted, against a backdrop of photographs taken decades ago for a program about the heroine's first summit and modern footage of the neighborhood where she resides. Her perseverance ultimately succeeded in persuading the government to provide funding for Sherpa's all-female Everest climbing expedition. Walker uses a number of different cinematographers to capture the unique and widely disparate tales.
