What I'm talking about in this episode is apropos for Movember or the men's health month where we kind of focus more on some specific issues including breast cancer, testicular cancer, and unfortunately suicide, but with that in mind, the concept of a mustache growth brings me to a topic that I want to dive into just briefly here, and that is hair loss. [00:55] Hair loss is a huge issue for men and women in general, but obviously the stigma, the social part of things for men off of looms large and many are desperate to try anything and end up throwing a lot of money away in the process. And so I want to back up a few steps into, try to dive a little bit deeper into some of the issues around what can cause potential hair loss for men in general and just kind of open up the mind to understand that there are other things out there that can be a factor and if they're not addressed there really a result in poor outcome from whatever you try, whether that's a Rogaine Minoxidil, finasteride or you're doing something topical or natural, like an anti aging hair shampoo that I can tell you more about if you're curious. But. So I'm just gonna walk you through the questions that I typically will ask my coaching clients in the men's health space in regards to the hair loss. [01:45] So the first one is how long have you been noticing hair loss? You know, if it's, if it's an acute thing, it could signify an illness or maybe there was an acute stressful events or something changed, a geographic move and there's something in the water are missing from the Diet. That's certainly possible. Family history is a huge part of it. The hereditary component of male pattern baldness obviously looms large and I think that, you know, knowing the family history can really help people be a little more proactive if they're trying to stave off some hair loss as opposed to trying to approach it after the horse is already out of the gate, so to speak. A diet is a huge factor and unfortunately the western society, many of the diets that people consume are highly inflammatory and missing out on a lot of micronutrients that can be essential for not only hair growth but also nail growth and so that's an important question to know about and we discussed that in more detail. [02:34] Next is medications, their variety of medications that can actually deplete micronutrients and can set up a person to have some issues with hair loss and disformed nails essentially. So next is vitamins and supplements, uh, there are some key ones that I generally suggest, but there are some ones that really have been shown to help improve not only hair growth but also a nailed strength and her fullness. So those are critical to know about as well. And then the common things that are very helpful to myself as a healthcare professional but also as a men's health coaches, you know, what kind of medical problems are we dealing with in the past? What sort of things are looming large on the presence scope, what about weight? Is weight been stable, has been any dramatic weight loss or weight gain because that certainly has factors. Um, bariatric surgery and gastric bypass surgery unfortunately is viewed by many as a, as a fix for obesity, but it has some drastic consequences in terms of nutritional deficiencies, which can also affect hair loss among other things. [03:35] And so it's a little bit more in depth topic than I can cover here in this short podcast. And the final question is any, um, things that are put on the hair, what's our products are used right now and sort of results have you gotten. And then the final thing is, um, what kind of water do you have? Do you have city water? Do you have well water, is it treated? Have you ever had it tested looking for things like heavy metals and other toxicities? So as you can see from what I've shared so far, there is a variety of things that are involved in healthy hair. And so I, I wanted us to bring that up because I have a lot of people that I talked to that are frustrated that they're spending, you know, 30, 40, $50 a month on a over the counter product and nothing's really happening or maybe it's just sort of static and stable and there are often other cues and clues to the equation that can potentially result in a better outcome. [04:30] And a few other topical products that I'm really passionate about. A little talk about later on where you can just message me. But anyways, I hope you have a fantastic November and will be ruling out some more focused issues again, on the men's health space this month. Be well. Talk to you soon.
