Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme! To round out Kids (Not That One) month, my sister mandated we watch Stand By Me, a movie based on the Stephen King book, The Body. So, why the title change?
We would assume the producers wanted to sell more soundtracks (yes, Stand By Me features prominently, along with a bevy of other bops from the 50s and 60s) and didn't want the coming-of-age film to be mistaken for one of the glut of erotic thrillers packing theaters in the late 80s.
