have you ever thought for a minute that we have been to hard on Mrs. Job?
After all, she also lost her children and security, and for all she knew, she might lose her husband too.
We all think we would be like Job and declare, as he did, “Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity? The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 2:10; 1:21)
Let’s get real.
Chances are, you and I wouldn’t respond like Job. Most of us would be like Mrs. Job.
If you don’t believe me, think about what your initial reaction would be to one or more of these life-altering events:
A job loss
A missed promotion
A divorce
The death of a loved one.
Would you respond with sunny optimism or with pessimism?
Discouragement is like a disease eating away at the hope in your heart.
If it persists, it becomes resistant to the encouragement we often get from others.
