Steel is the backbone of modern life. But it is also one of the world’s most emissions-intensive industries. In this episode of Moving Forward, we speak to Dr Alexander Fleischanderl, Chief Technology Officer & Head of Green Steel at Primetals Technologies, a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group company, about the practical pathways to producing this vital material with dramatically lower emissions.

The steel industry is responsible for about 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions and reducing this will demand a “fundamental transformation” in how iron and steel are produced, according to the World Steel Association. This episode explores:
