Have you ever put all your eggs in one basket and that basket came crumbling down? Maybe it was a really good basket that was God-glorifying and helped you love & serve others. Why would the basket fail then?
In Joel, the Israelites experience great loss when the locusts destroy their fields. These fields provided their offerings to the LORD, why did He allow this destruction?
God calls for them to turn to Him with all their hearts, not just outwardly but inwardly.
Sometimes our God-glorifying baskets need to be shaken to remind us that only He will not fail us.
In Hebrews, we are reminded to put our faith not in temporary created things, but in the Kingdom that cannot be shaken.
God shakes, uproots, and fades the temporary things. He calls us to turn to Him with all our hearts. He desires mercy.
Joel 2, Hebrews 12:18-29, Matthew 15:13, Isaiah 40:6-8
