The spectrum of perception around the purpose and value of horses has never been more vast. 

On one end we have horses who are still a foundational tool for human survival—beasts of burden. On the other end we have horses who are honoured and revered as healers and wisdom holders. 

We have horses who are forced to do whatever they are told. And we have horses who are given choice and voice.

As people who want to see improvement in equine welfare, how do we navigate this incredible expanse? As professionals, how do we measure integrity and what it means to be an advocate? As a collective, how do we continue to move toward a better world for horses while so many of the foundational systems within the industry allow mistreatment to occur?
