Jonathan is a lecturer and researcher in gerontology at Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ, Ecuador. He is the director of the community outreach program SIPAM which aims at improving the quality of life of older adults and their caregivers. He graduated in political sociology from Université de Lille, in gerontology from King’s College London. He completed his PhD thesis in 2020 in global health and social medicine also at King’s College London. Among other roles, he supervises student research, including the one presented in this talk.

Daniela Sosa is a 6th year medical student at Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ. With a strong interest in becoming a geriatrician and the desire to understand the sociological patterns associated with this choice, Daniela is the student lead researcher on the study evaluating motivations and deterrents associated with choosing geriatrics as a medical specialty.   geriatrics aging elderly geriatric care health care elder care dementia
