Better known as C Kunalan, Singapore’s most decorated sprinter took part in both the Tokyo (1964) and Mexico (1968) Olympic Games. In the latter, he made it to the second round of heats in the century sprint, eventually finishing 25th out of the 32 competitors in that round.
Although he participated in the shorter sprint events at the Olympics, it was in the 400m relay scene that he truly reigned.
He earned 15 Seap Games and five Asian Games medals over 12 years, and his 1974 national record in the 400m relay event still stands to this day.
