New year, new music. But what about last year's great music? Here's a last hurrah for some of the best releases of 2025. These are 20 of my favorites that I listened to on repeat in 2025. So many best of lists are ridiculously long with 200, 250, even 500 releases. What's the point? I like to take my time and actually edit it down to a managable number that means something. It's not easy, there are some bands that didn't make the cut, but were so very close and truly deserving. But not everything can be a favorite, because again, what would be the point? This week on the Modcast I shakedown the breakdown with Vancouver's own power pop sensations Star Collector. Vic and Steve join me to dish the dirt on the making of the band's latest album, Everything Must Go!

They're not holding anything back, the band puts it all out there for their seventh full length release. Overall the album has a strong, modern rock vibe with hints of the influences you'd expect surfacing all throughout from The Who to Big Star to Teenage Fanclub. And while those echoes are there, the album stands on its own songwriting with hooks aplenty and lyrics from clever to emotional. The title track is loud, glitzy and anthemic and will have audiences bouncing along, driven by Who like guitars and pounding drums. Then there's the notstalgic Victory Dance with it's mod scene theme that all aging mods can relate to. Other standout tracks include Shakedown the Breakdown, Station 8, and Victory Dance. Hell I could list all 13 tracks as stand outs. So, come along for the show, you'll be glad you did.

Welcome to Mr. Suave's Mod Mod World, it's time to get some summertime booze. At last, at long last, summer has come to seattle. This has been one of the coldest springs on record in the northwest, but the times they are a changin'. The thermometer has actually eeked up over 80 degrees fahrenheit. Not exactly Vegas temps sure, but I'll take it.

This week you're going to get a full dose of sunny, hot, summer songs.
But don't blame me, it's not my fault. Give credit where credit is due right, so I have to give credit and a shout out to one of the best blogs on the net Music Ruined My Life. If you dig power pop, punk, pop-punk, mod, new wave and so on then Music Ruined My Life should be one of the blogs you follow. Jeffen the man behind the blog recently did a great post featuring summer songs -- which got me to thinking. I started putting together a list in my mind and voila here's the modcast to prove it.
