MTA Alerts Significant Delays Light Rail Subway and Buses Due to Maintenance Weather Impacts

Listen Later

As of today, September 17, 2024, at 10:14 AM, several important transit alerts have been issued by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA). Listeners should take special note of these updates to ensure their travel plans are not disrupted.

Firstly, there is a significant service disruption on the Light RailLink. Track maintenance work is ongoing near the Camden Station. This maintenance is expected to cause delays of up to 30 minutes in either direction. Passengers are advised to plan for extra travel time or consider alternative routes if necessary.

Attention is also drawn to the Metro SubwayLink. There is currently a temporary service suspension between the State Center and Charles Center due to signal issues. Shuttle buses are operating to bridge the gap between these stations. MTA staff are working diligently to resolve these signal problems, but listeners are advised to expect delays and allow additional time for their journeys.

Regarding the MARC Train service, there are cancellations and schedule adjustments to report. Train 410 on the Penn Line has been cancelled because of equipment issues. Additionally, the Brunswick Line Train 892 is running approximately 20 minutes late due to signal issues near the Rockville station. Passengers planning to travel on these lines should check for the latest updates and anticipate possible delays.

Several bus routes are experiencing adjustments as well. Notably, Bus Route 10 is undergoing detours because of roadwork on Eastern Avenue. These detours are causing delays of around 15 to 20 minutes. Passengers using this route should check detour information and plan their travels accordingly.

On the Commuter Bus services, Route 715 is experiencing significant delays due to heavy traffic congestion on I-95. These delays are currently affecting both the morning and evening schedules, and MTA advises commuters to seek alternative routes or prepare for extended travel times.

Listeners should be aware that the weather today may also impact transportation. There is a forecast of light rain throughout the morning, which could lead to slower travel conditions. MTA operations are prepared for the weather, but delays on various services are still a possibility.

Lastly, MTA reminds passengers that wearing masks is still mandatory on all forms of public transportation. This is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff amid health concerns.
