Maryland Transit Alerts - Daily Update

MTA Issues Service Alerts for Light Rail Subway and MARC Train Delays Plus Bus Detours

Listen Later

Attention listeners,

Today, October 1, 2024, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is issuing several important service alerts and updates that could affect your travel plans. As always, it's essential to stay informed to ensure a smooth commute.

Firstly, there are significant disruptions on the Light RailLink. Due to ongoing track maintenance south of the Linthicum station, services are temporarily suspended between the Cromwell and North Avenue stations. The MTA has instituted a bus bridge to accommodate passengers between these affected segments. Riders should allot extra travel time and be prepared for the transfer.

The Metro SubwayLink is also experiencing delays. A mechanical issue at the Mondawmin station has slowed services between Reisterstown Plaza and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Technicians are on site, and efforts are underway to rectify the problem; however, expect residual delays throughout the day.

Several local bus routes are facing detours due to community events and road work. Notably, the CityLink Orange route and LocalLink 80 will bypass stops on Washington Boulevard, swinging through alternative streets until 6 PM due to a street festival. Furthermore, road construction on Belair Road is affecting LocalLink 30 and 33, causing delays and slight route changes.

Commuter buses are not immune to today’s disruptions. Routes 310 and 320 are running behind schedule, with notable congestion near the Columbia Park & Ride due to an accident reported early this morning. Delays are estimated to add about 20 minutes to the regular schedule.

Listeners using the MARC Train services should take note of the delays affecting the Penn Line. Signal issues near Union Station are causing delays, potentially adding up to 30 minutes to some services. Technicians are set to resolve the issue by mid-afternoon, but delays may persist through the evening rush hour.

The MTA advises all riders to keep checking the MTA website and social media channels for the latest updates and to allow extra time for their commutes. These disruptions, while inconvenient, are part of ongoing efforts to improve and maintain Maryland’s public transit infrastructure.

Thank you for your attention and patience as these issues are addressed. Make sure to plan accordingly and travel safely.
