It was Mercy Ships patient selection day in Africa.  Fifteen-year-old Mtombomzi sat alone, with her head bowed.  A handkerchief covered her birth defect – a deformed nose.  Volunteer surgeon Dr. Gary Parker assured the girl and her mother that an operation would change the shape of the nose.
