There's nothing quite like the hope of a brand-new planner. Settle in with a cup of tea as I share my morning planner ritual, my lifelong love of planners (the big plans, the empty weeks, and what every one of them has taught me), and the story of Rosie Sherwood, the little forest witch who lives in my new A Witch's Life planner with her moon-pale cat, Luna.
Plus, a little something for you to do as we cross into the witch's new year: write one wish for the coming year and tuck it somewhere safe.
✨ A Witch's Life opens on 15 October, ready to begin in November. Find out more and join here: https://www.sarajaneartmagic.com/a-witch-s-life-planner
This episode is all about how a change of perspective and scenery can invite magic in....

What happens when you let yourself be pulled sideways by a whim?
In this episode I'm talking about the tiny sideways moments — the flits, the distractions, the little acts of *ooh, that looks interesting* — and the surprisingly big things that grow from them. A walk to the shops that turned into a charity shop rummage that turned into a whole new tote bag. A moment of guilt that turned into a permission slip. A permission slip that turned into a whole newsletter that turned into this podcast episode.
Small flits, big ripples. That's the butterfly effect.
I talk about:
🌼 Why *should* is one of the sneakiest little words we carry around
🦋 Giving yourself the same kindness you'd give a best friend
🌿 How play is actually how we find out what we love doing *right now*
✨ The way one small yes can quietly unlock something much bigger
If you've been feeling guilty about not doing what you *should* be doing this week — or if you've been holding back from something because you're waiting to feel ready — this one's for you.
Let the guilt drain down the plughole. Follow the flit. See where it takes you.
🌿 Come and find me at **www.sarajaneartmagic.com** for more art, magic, and gentle permission slips.

Do you remember when the whole world was enchanted? When the bottom of the garden was a kingdom, a puddle was a potion, and a wish on a dandelion clock was the most serious magic there was?
She's still in there — the little witch you used to be.
In this gentle episode I'm talking about inner child magic: the wonder we all knew as children, why we tuck it away as life gets busy and grown-up, and how to find our way back to it. I share the story of how I stumbled upon my own inner child quite by accident — two little dolls, forgotten for years in an old suitcase — and how holding them again reminded me that play was never really lost, only set aside.
We'll wander through the kind of magic children do without ever being taught it: the daring to pretend, the freedom to wish, the gift of noticing small wonders, and the quiet joy of making something for no reason at all. And I share a little something you can try this week to reconnect with your own small self — no belief required, nothing to buy, just a gentle afternoon of remembering.
If any of this stirs something in you, it's the whole heart of my new little course, the Baby Witch Project — six gentle sessions of paper-and-scissors magic, all about coming home to the small witch within. The very first session is completely free, and it's arriving on the new moon. Come and make your own little witch: sarajaneartmagic.com
So put the kettle on, settle in, and let's remember how to play.
Be kind to your little one this week. She's still in there.
With love,
Sara Jane x

Moving house does something strange to a practice. Mine went quiet — not gone, just misplaced. In this episode I talk about how I found my way back through writing and watercolour, and how that became the Mundane Magic Oracle — 36 cards to help you notice the everyday magic all around you. The deck is now available in the shop and free to members.

In this first episode I introduce myself, this podcast, and Hairy Pete — an enormous Leylandii tree who my husband nearly had chopped down. Turns out Pete is home to more magic than we realised. Named by my daughter (it's a long story), this is his origin story.
