When World War II started for The United States of America on December 7th, 1941, Murray Anderson was a senior in high school in Deport, a small agricultural town in northeast Texas. In the spring of 1942, his father died, and it was up to him to run the farm. It wasn't long after that Murray joined the greatest fighting force the world has ever known, the United States Marine Corps. Murray was an 18 year old farm boy, high school athlete and stood tall weighing 200 pounds so he thought he was tough enough to be a Marine. Little did he know what would be demanded of him.
