James Waterson reports last weekend’s tennis news. Andy Murray defeated David Ferrer 7-5, 6-4 to win the Shanghai Rolex Masters, his third title within the last month. The victory moved Murray up to No. 3, bumping Roger Federer out of the top three for the first time since June of 2003. Meanwhile, Kei Nishikori became the highest ranked Japanese male tennis player in Open Era history, and Petra Kvitova won her first title since Wimbledon in Linz, Austria.
