Clive was raised in Manchester, England. He began playing the drums, at the age of 5. As the years went on, he taught himself to play the bass. Clive was in several bands, including Beau Leisure and Pacific, prior to When in Rome. When in Rome, reached #11 (1988) on the U.S. Billboard Top 40 Chart, with their hit song, The Promise.
