The Qur'an is the sole guide for Muslims, being the eternal and unaltered Word of God. It is described in various verses as a guide, a light, a measure, evidence, a miracle, medicine, glad tidings, advice, a reminder, a law, guidance, an explanation, and a warning. Our Prophet was guided solely by the Qur'an, and had no authority to make anything outside of it lawful or unlawful.
