charming book and a bit more

I had been reading some heavy non-fiction and came across this somehow on Amazon. It sounded fun and I ordered it. A young woman vet, at loose ends because her long affair with her boss is over, takes over her veterinary school friend's practice for six months in a small English town. A small town with an older large animal practice which resents her friend's presence, a somewhat eccentric practice team, a romance, and as usual for this type of book, a gossipy local population. All this is done well and to be expected but the added value comes from the author's sincere love of animals and the main character's devotion to caring for them. Heartwarming stuff. Think a young James Herriott. All in all it is quick and delightful genre read and I have ordered the next one.

Even better than the first one! Can't wait to start book number 3...

I ordered it, because after the end of book one of the series, Trust me I'm a vet, I felt I wanted more... And I did get more, more than I ever expected! Fast paced, impossible to put down, laughter, tears, deep feelings... It's got it all!

Great book for the aspiring vet!

This is a great series so far! As a vet to be, it's fun to read a story about someone in practice. I would highly suggest it for teens interested in vet med. It gives a honest but funny insight to how demanding life as a vet can be. Cathy Woodman really hits the nail on the head. Can't wait to finish the series!

Liked the first book, had to read the sequel.

Good book dealing with everyday realistic drama. I'm not sure it would have been as enjoyable if I hadn't have read the first book as I was familiar with all the characters. Still a good read to escape for a few hours.

Second in a series of three well-written books abut a female vet in a small English town. I hated to see the series end.
