My EGG-citing Journey With Egg Freezing | Episode 9

Amanda recaps her first week of living with her boyfriend - goodbye loft, hello new room! She also dives into the highs and lows of her egg-freezing journey, sharing why she made the decision and what she learned along the way. 1st Consultation:

  • Talk to the Dr.
  • Nurse Coordinator
  • Intravaginal exam
  • Bloodwork/urine sample
  • Financial Coordinator

2nd Visit:

  • Saline sonogram (check for any abnormalities)
  • Take Tylenol an hour b/f your visit

3rd Visit:

  • Bloodwork
  • Estradiol pills (1 tablet twice a day)
  • To Do:
    • Call the facility (nurse coordinator) on your first full flow day once your period cycle starts

4th Visit:

  • 1 st full flow day (call Nurse Coordinator)
  • Go in on the 3 rd day of your menstrual cycle
  • Bloodwork & ultrasound
  • Start injections
  • 2 injections in lower abdomen
    • Gonal F – 450 units
    • Low dose ECG – 20 units

DAY 9 of injections – I started taking a Provera pill daily at night

DAY 11 of injections – Trigger shot (24 hours before your procedure)

  • Stopped taking the other two shots
  • Lupron Shot – 4o9 unites (trigger shot)
  • Pregnyl

EGG REMOVAL DAY:

  • 15-minute procedure and they put you under
  • They retrieved 19 eggs and only 11 matured so I was able to freeze 11 eggs

COST:

  • $8,600 – upfront
  • $3,000 – medication
  • $12,000 – TOTAL approx. number
